Received my Naturalpoint Smart-NAV EG
Posted by: Dis

I finally received my NaturalPoint Smart-NAV EG. i was supposed to receive it Tuesday but the shipping got messed up for some reason, probably just to frustrate me. Anyway, I just wanted to talk about it a little.

I wasn't sure how setting up and installing the device would be. To my surprise it took no time at all. Just install the software, plug it in to a USB port, place it on top of a monitor and put the hat on or place a dot on your forehead. That's it, your ready to go. Since I haven't used it much I am still fine tuning it. I must say that it is very responsive and really does require minimal head movement, which for me is great.

The big test is going to be in Counter-Strike. Once I get it set right I am jumping right in to see if it improves my abilities. If it does it will definitely work well in other FPS games and genres.

Full review is on its way.

Half-Life 2: Episode One
Posted by: Dis

half-life 2One of my all time favorite games is Half-Life 2 and coming June 1st starts the beginning of a series of episodes that will keep gamers entertained for some time. The first to come is entitled Half-Life 2: Episode One. This game starts after the cliff-hanger ending that left you wondering what happened to City 17 and its characters. It looks amazing and I am hoping that it delivers.

Watch the Official Episode One Trailer here.

Naturalpoint Smart-NAV purchase
Posted by: Dis

I'm always looking for ways to improve my gameplay. So, after talking my new friend Bobby I decided to purchase a Naturalpoint Smart-NAV 3 EG. It is a device that allows you to use a mouse with just head movements. I am really excited to try it and after I use it a few days I will have a review for you.

Bobby G.
Posted by: Dis

I subscribe to the IGDA Game Accessibility SIG Mailing List and recently there was a message posted by Robert Florio. It was an email sent to him from a Bobby G. who is a Quad C 3-4. Bobby is also a gamer that plays a lot of Counter-Strike and other games. After reading his email I went to his web site to check it out and to try to get a hold of him. Which I did because like have said I am always looking for other GWD's to play with.

Now we have been playing Counter-Strike together and I must say Bobby is really great at it. He kicks my butt (For now, LOL) and I bet he can beat just about any Abled-Bodied gamer at it. You have to see him play, there are some videos on his site of him playing. Go to CS Info to see. We play almost the same way but with different equipment.

E3 is coming May 9th
Posted by: Dis

This for me is the best time of the year. We just had the GDC (Game Developers Conference) which I will be talking about soon. Now it's time for E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo), the biggest gaming conference for the industry. I always get excited about both of these.

In the next few weeks leading up to E3 I will let you know what I am looking forward to. Everything from games to devices and whatever else. Then during the conference I will do the same thing but more often. So get ready for some cool content.

I will not be there, although I would love to go. Right now I am not in the industry or media. I am working on changing this.

Gaming Network for GWD's?
Posted by: Dis

I've always wanted a place where I could find other GWD's that play games online. It would be fun to play with others that have a disability. I go on different forums from time to time asking if there is anyone out there but I never get an answer. What we need is a network like Gamespy or something that we can do this.

I am not sure if anyone is interested but I would like to at least start something. What I will do is make a form for all to fill out including the able-bodied, then I will make a page with this information. The form will have places for nicknames, what you play, what systems that you use, what city and/or state you reside, email address and other items. I will start in May or maybe the end of April. Let me know what else you think should be in the form.

Also, if we have a big enough list then maybe some of you can use it to let the industry know how many of us are really out there. When I start this please help by filling it out and spread the word.
